Default Vapor canister?

In a quest to get my 79 L48 running smooth I put on a new edelbrok carb and started eliminating vacuum lines for emission parts. I was told the hard line coming off of the canister ran to the gas tank and I can cap it but I'll need a vented gas cap, no big deal. My question is though where do I cap it? Do I just cap all the lines on the canister for now so I dont have to remove the hard line or can I just leave it hooked up and the other spouts open? One last thing what are the hard lines on the pass. side of the intake that ran into the carb for and can I cap them aswell without any negative affects. Thanks in advance.

Not sure but I think the hard line on the passenger side runs down to the transmission so, no, you do not want to block this off.

Yeah I know that one does it comes up and inserts into a port on the back of the intake but the ones I am referring to are less than 12" long and are maybe an inch apart and they both plugged into the quadrajet. They set right in front of the egr valve if thats any help.

if these are the ones that go into the intake, half way, then to the choke and body of the carb, then they are for the choke heater, not vacuum, they pull exh gas through choke to open it.

That sounds like them. Since I see no way to attach them to my new carb what should I do?

the holes that go into the intake are actually a tube, from one hole to the other, you can leave them open, unless the tube has rotted, and exh gas is leaking out, but no vacuum worries. some people remove the plate, and fab a flat piece to cover the hole.
