Ok hope someone can help me with this one. Car is off frame, on frame I welded in new steel for body mounts, rest of frame is perfect. The wow is the rocker channel up under the car, the same area the your rocker panels mount to, are rusted bad. And right were the body mount bushings are the holes are rusted out to the size of the bushing itself. Can one get new channel metal, maybe weld some new metal (after sealing old rusted metal) but then I would worry that the frame height stats will be off. If I can get new metal channels that means cutting up into the birdcage, same with the rear, and doing lots of fiberglass work I will also have to repaire both #4 mounts on the body. Man this is not what I wanted to see
Got the same ugly surprise on my 68 when I had the body off
Got my channels from Zip or CC, can't remember which. They weld into place under the existing channel, no need to cut the old one out.
If I can find the reciept(got a folder full of'em) I'll send you the part#

So you would leave the rusty old channel there instead of cutting it out

Cut the rusty sections out and treat the remaining metal with a rust inhibitor. I know it sounds screwy, but thats how they are made to go in. We found this out after removing the old channel, then we had to weld it right back in
Once parts are in hand, and the not-too-clear instructions are understood, you'll see what I mean
Bair has those channels for 80.00 each I just did this to my frame off, there are two tooling holes on each rail, line those up with the tooling holes on your rail then you can attach them to your existing rails by welding or bolting or I took por15 and por'd the top and the bottom of the channels and then bolted them together and let it dry.It wont move anywhere once it dries.Put some silicone on your bolts and they will come out when it dries,Tom
