Default will this work?

i bought an eagle crank from summit racing and brought it to a shop to get the rotating assembly balanced and it turns out that the snout is just a fraction under an inch and a half so when put my balancer on there is a zero tolerance so it slides right on and there is no movement or wobble but like i said it slides right on and can be taken off with almost no effort by hand. can i still use the crank sense it is balanced or did i just waste my money on getting it balanced? if it is still usable i will make sure to use loctite on it so that the crank bolt doesnt come out but the thought makes me worry about the crank coming off and damaging something. what is everyone elses opinion?

The balancer is supposed to be an interference fit, I would not run a balancer that could be taken off by hand. You may want to try a Fluidampr as they are an extremely tight fit and it might work for your situation.

Another option would be an ATI balancer. Their hubs are removeable and can be custom ordered to fit the size of your crankshaft snout. I agree that you wouldn't want to run a loose fitting balancer. You'll be ok.

ok well i didnt want to put a stock balancer back on the motor but i went by my local friendly auto parts store (FAPS) and picked up a stock balancer and it fits perfect so i guess i will run that. it turns out that the ATI balancer is made of a much harder material so they have a little bigger ID so they can slide down on a stock crank and it also turns out that eagle cranks are harder than a stock crank so they grind the snout a little smaller so that you can get a stock balancer on it but the bad thing is that both the ATI and the Eagle crank are ground to the size so when you go to put the balancer on it just slids on which is a no go. oh well live and learn and life goes on. ok back out to the garage to do a little more work.
