Is this a bad idea?
Had some time this week so I decided to do a little more work on my 82 Vette. On thing that REALLY bothers me is the fan. I can't stand the sound my fan makes it drives me nuts. So I took it off. The thermostat I think was a 210. I switched it over to a 180. I also flushed out the old coolant and put new stuff in. After taking off the loud metal fan, I noticed that the car did infact have an electric auxilary fan.... Which I decided to make my primary fan. I used a Derale 180* coolant temp sensor in place of the original 230* sensor and wired it up to kick the fan on at 180*F. The fan blows hard but still the vehile overheats severly. I also bought a Derale fan to add to the condenser side to push the air. Is it possible that I have air in the system from the flush or something, or is it just not enough fan power to cool the vehicle?
Dan
P.S. which way does the coolant flow... the upper radiator hose just doesn't seem to get hot and I turned the thermostat over twice?
