I've got one but haven't got it on yet. Don't remember if it's Ecklers but I need the clearance and I think they will look great. Sure look good on the c3's.

I have the ''Stinger'' hood on my '79.
Click on ''Perfection In Progress...Project '79''.
Pages 3, 4 ane 5 have pics of the hood.
I LIKE the hood...but don't expect it to be a ''perfect'' fit.
It does ''bolt on''...but needs alittle ''work'' to get all the seams lined up and centered.

Couple of questions.
When the hood is bolted on, it WILL eventually line up right ??
How much work was involved in cutting open the open in the hood?
Can I see some photos of the bottom of the hood?
I am wondering if a cold air box from an earlier hood could be bonded to the bottom of the hood so that ALL air came from the outside.
Bseery,
I'm not sure what your asking but I just installed a stinger hood on my 75 and theres no provision for an airbox. I might be wrong but I don't think theres enough room to install an airbox either. The hood is not as tall as an L88. The back of it is not much taller then my old stock 75 but instead of becoming flush with the hood like a stock hood it continues straight out. If that makes any sense? There is a crossbeam across the back of the hood between the airfilter and wiper area I'm assuming used for support that could be cutout and an airbox installed. It would be tight. I don't have a digital camera so I'm not much help sorry. I do like the hood though.
Vancour's (?spelling) also sells this hood for our cars. They show specialed their hood at Carlisle for $325 and said they catalog price for $425. I want that style hood for my 73 small block tri-power coupe. Their stuff seemed like it was thick enough to be structurally sound, not thin and flimsy like race only glass or cheap crap, but what about their fit. I thought I read on the forum it leaves alot to be desired. Now I am concerned about Eckler's fit too from the above posted thread. If I have to add and subtract alot of material to make it fit right, I may as well save the difference of $100-$200 bucks in the price between the two manufacturers.
1RED1 post what you find out if you score one.
I ordered it ,should be here in a few days.$650 plus shipping etc
Cool air is getting costly.I'll post updates on how it fits,if its a
strong design and so on.....1RED1
2nspire, I think it will, but write Bob Holtman and ask him to take a few measurements for you.
Bseery, yes, you can bond to the bottom of it, using fiberglass and chicken wire, and make yourself a cold air box. Very good idea.
For those of you who think $600 is a little over the top for that style hood, you can make your own. Speedway motors does sell the stinger scoop just by itself, and being fiberglass, it can be bonded to the top of your original small block hood. If you do the work yourself, you'll save a lot of money. I paid $40 for the scoop and $100 for another small block hood from a salvage place (just in case I mess up, I don't mess up my own original hood).
Do the glass work, gel coating, and sanding myself, and then have someone paint it.
The finish on mine was great. As far as the fit is concerned mine just needs adjusting it looks fine. It just needs a bit of a tweak. It fit alot better then I thought a new hood for a 26 year car would :D
Can anyone tell me what engine clearance gain do you get with the stinger style hood from the stock 77 hood, and is there a grill or foam filter in the opening of the scoop or is it completely open to the air filter and engine.
The scoop starts an inch or two higher at the windshield then yours and goes straight out about 35 inch were its three and a half inchs higher then the hood
it doesn't follow the hood down to the nose. The farther from the windshield
the higher it is above the hood.Hope that make cents. The scoop isn't cut
open you have to do that yourself
