Just to let everyone know the big news, I sold my '69 Corvette today. I was quite lucky actually as it was not via advertising, but by word of mouth that the buyer found me.
The car is being purchased by an interstate buyer and will be heading over to Queensland. Apparently it is not uncommon for Queensland buyers to take trips over here to the West Coast or South Australia to find good unmolested left hand drive cars.
I'm getting a little less than what I'd hoped for, but I'm still coming out in front, and happy that a deal is done rather than drag on trying to sell it for another 6 months or something...
The car won't be shipped for a little while yet so I'll keep you informed of what's happening with this deal.
Please stay active on the forum regardless of when you pass the car along. Did you get the heads sorted out? Whether you did or not, the buyer is getting one gorgeous Vette! Anything over 30 years old is going to need some attention; but what a great starting point yours will be for a happy owner.
Try to find another C3. Maybe a 435 car or an LT-1. I’m not sure how to sign off, saying congratulations just doesn't seem appropriate!
Yes Chuck the heads have been sorted out ($2500 later though ).
I agree, about not knowing how to sign off. I have mixed feelings now, kind of happy I can look forward to a bit of financial freedom, but regretful too that I will no longer be driving one of the nicest cars I've ever seen.
I will still continue to take part in this forum even without the car.
Say it ain't so Sheridan! :( I knew you were talking about it, but I didn't think you'd actually do it. Shame to part with such a beautiful car. Hope you're still going to hang around the forum, got a feeling you'll have another shark before too long.
Thanks for all the support folks. You will never get old high performance cars out of my blood, but I do not have any plans for another car at this stage, rather leave it open and see what happens. I'm sure somewhere down the track a Corvette will feature again though...
The wife is very excited at the moment though as it means important things for our house which we don't have like heating, floor coverings (currently bare concrete), window treatments (currently newspaper hanging over the glass) and insulation (currently just damn cold!) can soon become a reality.
Don't worry, I'm going to continue hanging around here as I want to keep up to date on everyone's projects :chevy
Congradulations! Or should I say "I'm sorry". That is a big step. I've sold many cars in the past and never felt any remorse (except for a 1968 Chevelle), but I'm not sure I could let go of the Vette. It would have to be a life changing event that would prompt such action.
In any case, I'm sure you did what you thought was best for your situation. Good luck!
P.S. Since you are a previous Vette owner, I'm sure the forum will still welcome your comments.
