Default C5 seats in C3

I purchased a set of C5 seats for my 72 (the C5 seats in my 99 spoiled me). Is the added comfort worth the expense and time of adding C5 seats? Also, if you have added, please detail your seatbelt choice (retracting only).

I put in the 2002 Firebird/Camaro seatbelts. It was pretty easy to do, the hardest part actually being getting the old web out of the guide and the new web back into it. They look great, hang where they are supposed to, and no longer get caught in the door. All that and I get the benefit of new technology for activating them.

Do a search on this, several have done it. They look great in there. I think you have to make tracks to fit them.

Mongoose, thanks for the pic. It looks like the panel has an indention for the seatbelt (above right shoulder)? Did you have to weld a not for the shoulder mount harness to screw into?

Mine was already there for the '76. You may or may not have the mounting point on an earlier vette that came with only lap belts. The panel is easy to remove and check out. I would think it could be mig welded on there though. I'd want a certified or well experienced welder to do it though because if it comes off in an accident you're gonna have a hell of a headache

I have c5 seats in my 72 coupe now, but will be swapping originals back in. Seats are cushy and LOOK great in car, but lost way too much headroom. I'm only 5ft 8 inch tall, and I feel like I'm looking out at the very top of the windshield. Also I have not yet converted to tilt/tel column and the room between top of legs/lap and the stock steering wheel is VERY tight. I will be posting my seats for sale in near future. Dont want to rain on your parade, but you might want to think twice before you spend the bucks for C5 seats, or at least sit in a C3 with them in it BEFORE going thru all the trouble. Good luck.

I was warned about losing headroom doing the c-5 seat swap, but for comfort I had to do something. My goal was to keep them as low or lower than the original seats and I accomplished that. This is a link to one thread on the subject.
