Default 1977 A/C Hose Assembly Replacement

I need to change my hose assembly. Looks like I am going to have a blow out. Has anyone changed out the hose assembly on their car? My question is the access to the connectors at the condensor and the accumulator. If you have changed the hose assembly before, did you remove the hood to get better access to the condensor? Looks like I can get at it, but very close quarters, and I would hate to slip and put a big oops in my hood. Also, it looks like I can get access to the accummulator end from underneath the car. Is this correct, or do I have to remove other body parts. If you have experience with this I would appreciate your input prior to starting the project. TIA..

I'm doing a Sanden conversion this summer but I replaced the stock hoses assembly several years ago. The connection on the condenser is tough but can be done without taking the hood off. 2 people makes it easier. We used a flare nut wrench and a crows foot on a long extension. One guy held the flare wrench and the crows foot in place while I turned the crows foot with an extension. It's hard to explain but once you get after it you'll figure it out. This same technique works on the lower condenser connection to replace the oring.

Good luck!

It is easier to take the hood off. Also the new hose from GM is smaller and stronger and is built to use 134a freon. When the hose goes through the support it will kink. The freon will push through and unkink it.

The hard end is at the drier.
