I understand that all the radiators have various seals around the shroud, etc. to help direct air flow through the radiator. But, I haven't seen a good illustration in any of the catalogs identifying what the different parts are.
On my '73 L-48, there is a 1in x 1in square piece of rubber/foam that runs the length of the radiator (about 2.5 ft long). It's placed on the top of the radiator between the shroud, and it looks like it's not sealed in but just held there by the shroud brace. Mine has about a 6in part missing so it just flops around, but I'm not sure what it's called. Any ideas?
Note >>>>>>>>>>>it is a very important part of the cooling system seals between hood & top of radiater, when hood is closed keeps air through radiater , rather than over it ,,,,,,,,,a component that is often overlooked,,,,,,,,just my thoughts WOOF WOOF
Doctor Rebuild has the best illustrations in the business for radiator seals and vacuum hoses.
His illustrations are VERY good. Interesting how he's using SafeImage to prevent you from right-click-saving the images. Or I think that's what he's using it for. Well, it doesn't prevent you from saving the images, it just makes getting them a little more difficult. They are very good diagrams though listing the variations in seals through the years. Better than I've seen elsewhere.
