You can get that diode (1a-100v) at any Radio Shack. Just make sure that little line on the diode is oriented towards the Alternator.
Is this supposed to load the engine via the alternator to help stop dieseling? If not, how is it supposed to help the problem?

Witz never mentioned "dieseling" himself, he said "run-on". Run on is a common problem with MSD ignition boxes. The problem is a small amount of current leaking into the ignition box that keeps the car running when the key is turned off.
