In the thoughts of saving money and learning is there anyway to buy the connectors for a wiring harness? I have a 1976 that went under water and all the wiring as well as everything else is going to have to be redone. The dash harness alone is going to cost $449. I am looking for everything from the lights to the fuse box.

Most of the connectors on a C3 are Delphi Packard Type 56. The best way to buy them is through a body shop supply that is an Auveeco dealer or get them from an old harness. You can buy some of the more generic ones from a supplier like Waytek or Del City but you have to buy a minimum. I do see kits for them on Ebay.

You can buy them at CarQuest in boxes of 5, 10, 25. It is a bit harder to find some of the wire colors used in a Vette if you try to be faithful to those. Another option that may get you part way there is to buy an under dash harness from any 70's GM full size car and add the wires you need. Big cars usually have good, unmolested harnesses and are not in high demand. Might even find 1 free from a demolition derby car builder. Anyway, most wiring is already there (turn signals/column, ignition, headlights) you just need new ends and some re-direction. Have to change some wire positions on the fuse box firewall passthrough if you want to actually make a 76 harness. Underhood you could use a Chevrolet harness (it won't have headlight indicator wire and will have wrong turn signal ends), taillights you will need to make/buy a corvette harness.

Where do the restoration suppliers get their wire? Waytek will do custom tracers on any wire, but I figure it might be more economical to just buy the stuff made for GM harnesses.

This place looks like a good source for automotive wire and it comes in the different types: GPT, SXL. I have never bought from them but they were recommended to me by a friend that designs vehicle control systems.
