Drain coolant, loosen belts, remove fan, remove water pump, clean block, install new pump, replace fan, tighten belts, install new coolant.
Good time for new belts, hoses, and definately new coolant. Sometimes people put a new timing chain at the same time. Then you need to pull the oil pan, while you are there new oil pump.....

That's what I'm afraid of. I've already noticed some other things I would like to do while I have it apart, but this being summer time, I will try and control myself as not to limit my driving time too much.

Thanks again to all that replied.
Wait... we're supposed to be DRIVING these cars during the summer??? I KNEW I was doing something wrong!
dont do what I did and forget to put the pully back on . I couldnt figure out why the heck my belt would not tighten up....DUH I bolted the fan directly to the water pump Its pretty straight forward job and you shouldnt run into any problems.

Here's one you need to know that nobody mentioned: keep track of WHICH BOLTS go into WHICH HOLES!! (Only four bolts, but seems like they are all different lengths...)

Don't forget to pull the harmonic balancer to get to the taiming chain
The water pump is not difficult at all to replace. The quote above is all it really is. Has it been drained and flushed recently? No? Radiator drain plug could be a problem.
You can get replacement pumps at almost any vette vendor(ecklers, Corvette Central) or aftermarket supplier(summit).
