Default Holley vs. Demon

I know this has been talked about here many times. But i need help on choosing a carb. I am looking at the Holley Street Avenger series vs. the demon carbs. The setup is edelbrock performer rpm top end package with rpm air gap manifold rpm heads and rpm cam. So what is the carb of choice street avenger or demon and what cfm thanks.

CFM choice depends on your engine, but I prefer Demon based on previous experience with Holleys.

Its a 350 with edelbrock rpm heads, airgap intake, 234/244 @050 with 488/510 lift. should be around 9.5:1 compression.

Since it's an Edelbrock set-up, why not go with an Edelbrock 750 cfm carb?.....it would be perfect for your combo and very reliable on the street.

i have a buddy that has a edelbrock carb and he has more problems with that thing running rich and keeping it in tune.

I would recommend the 650 Speed Demon, not the 750, as they tend to under-rate their carbs... I picked up a 750 for my 427 (with fuel line) for $400 off of EBay- do a search, there's one guy there who sells hundreds of 'em... And he's pretty sharp on them, too.

650 Speed Demon! You won't regret it!

IMO I'd go with the Holley. I have a Street Avenger on mine...bolted it on right out of the box; easy to adjust and maintain. I have had mine for the past 2 years....no probs....and I drive it EVERYDAY...come rain or shine. Engine fires right up....the electric choke has not failed me yet.....

Don't know anything about the Demon...other than what's advertised.

From what I've read, the Street Avenger is the ultimate bolt on and go carb. I have a 670 and have been pretty happy with it, there are a couple small bugs with my motor (little bit of hesitation when cruising and under acceleration), but that's getting resolved and is quite possibly not even the carb. You can probably extract a little more power from the Demon, but it's going to take some tuning.

I have an edelbrock 750 (1411) and cannot get it to stop running rich at low rpm...if I do it runs too lean at 2000+..(I have a wide band O2 sensor). Anyway I have my eye on the 750 speed demon with annular boosters...might want to check that one...I have no experience with demons so I cannot tell you any personal experience..I have heard that you will want to open it up to make sure there are no metal shavings..

at my shop all i hear is bad things about the edelbrock products. holley is better but have heard no complaints with the demon. so thats why im going with a demon.

750 Speed Demon would be my recommendation. Call BG and see what they recommend. Q-Jets are better for light street driving, Demons are better for performance IMO. Also, Demons suck gas. But not as bad as Holleys do from what I hear.

Yes, but I try to keep the jets/rods in a certain range. Right now I need to change the jets to smaller ones b/c of the heat and humidity. It does not change the way the carb acts though. It always runs rich at low rpm and goes leaner until the rods pop up(I have changed the step up springs and it is noticeable of the rpm when the a/f ratio goes back rich). I am only talking about cruise though. As far as full throttle I have no problem getting it tuned in the 12.5-13.0 range. Also the idle adjustments do play a role in how rich the carb runs at low rpm. I do not have it idled up very high..about 700 rpm so I do not think the transfer slot/throttle blades are opened. I am definitely not a carb expert so if you have any ideas I would love to hear them, but I know this is not my thread....so PM me if you do...
