Default Parking brake removal

Hello everyone, i have a 79 vette that i am experiencing some noise issues with. I was able to examine the brakes all the way around the car and noticed that the cause of the noise is my parking brakes. It seems overtime that the parking brake springs are worn and tired. Anyways, is it possible just to remove the parking brake on the drivers rear only? I cant afford a new parking brake kit at this time, but i dont want to hear the squeeking noise anymore. I greatly appreciate any input you guys and gals can give me..thanks

Yes, you can remove the shoes and hardware with no adverse issues. I've bought several in the past and come to find the shoes have been removed. Just put them back in when the $$$ are available.

I pulled the passenger side emergency brake shoes off with the hopes of installing new hardware. The e-brake god was not with me and after quite few attempts, I abandoned trying to get the new shoes in and figured I'd wait until I had to pull the whole thing apart. Hardest part was drilling off the rotor. I left the lever attached to the backing plate so I had to wire it aside so it wouldn't interfere with the turning drum. That and I have to remember NOT to pull the emergency brake handle when I park. Have fun.

Here's what you're dealing with. This is an arm I was rebuilding prior to installing the bearings. There are SS shoes on this but they blend in!
