Also I know the A/C controls need vacum where could I possibly find the old lines on the car?[firewall] am I missing anythig else? any thoughts?

An assembly manual should show you how everything went together originally (vacuum lines etc.). They can be picked up for around $25 and are a must have for working on your own car. The orfice tube is a metering device in the system. Since you are using 134a, throw away the $3 orfice tube and get a variable orfice valve (VOV) from NAPA for about $20. God bless, Sensei

P.S. Good used compressor? Don't bet on it!

The orafice tube is as A1 says a metering device. What it does is provide the pressure drop that creates the cooling effect need going into the condensor. When you pressurise a liquid or gas it heats up and when you run it thru a restriction like an orifice tube it shills off rapidly on the low pressure side. Weird but it works.
