I should know this but I don't, the 68 Corvette wiper motor has 3 wires going into the motor assembely (????). All others have 2. What is this all about? This made testing the unit impossable for me (didn't want to burn it up). Can some one explain this? And as far as testing, whats 12V, whats ground ect, Thanks AL.
You need a 68 Shop Manual for wiring. All 68-72s have 3 wires; 2 (black, blue?) are to the motor, 1 (red) is from the override system and is unique to 68-72 Corvette. As I understand it 68 is by itself and 69-72 interchange. Can't remember exactly why 68 is different than 69-72. You can make other GM motors work by adding that wire from the override. I have a 78 2-speed motor on mine, I used the diagram in the Shop Manual and added the red wire.

this was the only year where the overide system was signaled by the wiper O'ride bezel in the guage cluster, bet that has something to do with it. Ill check later when i can get to my wiring diagram
The guy that rebuilt mine sent an instruction sheet on how to bench test the motor. I'll dig through my paperwork when I get home and see if I still have it

I found a 68 wiper/washer combo unrestored that I'm going to give to Danny Tate at Wiper Works to restore and have my original one repaired. This all started by having a incorrect after market warsher pump on my original motor. The aftermarket incorrect pump doesn't retain the resistor wire block in the wiper pump as the correct one, that is how mine got broke trying to remove the 3 wire connector, AL.
Heres the bench test instructins for the wiper motor. Sorry it took so long, I was out fighting yet another battle with the Vette, you people know how that goes!
I did find a problem on mine and was a broken resistor on the 3 pin connector and found another unrestored 68 Wiper/Washer set I will be sending to Danny Tate at Wiper Works and will post a follow up. 682XLR8, sweethence and markdtn, thanks for your excellent follow up! AL.
