My corvette is quiet and has the original exhaust set up on it. I want to put on chambered mufflers. Is it normal to put on the chambered with the back box in place or should I replace the back box with the chambered muffler? Any advice on this would be a great help.

I'm a little confused about what you mean by the back box...
I'm a fan of the Stainless Steel systems as I tend to own my cars for a long time and hate to replace things more than once. I purchased a SS system from Allen's back in 1991 and it still looks terrific today. The system fit extremely well and has a very nice sound to it. Not as aggressive as side pipes or chambered exhaust, but more authoritative than stock.
In my opinion there are somethings where you get exactly what you pay for and exhaust systems are one of them. Of course almost nothing sounds better on these cars than the tried and true factory side pipes either... (in stainless of course...)
MY opinion...I just installed the chambered exhaust on my 77. No mufflers at the rear. It is too loud for ME. Would sound good on my 68 Camaro, but it is too loud for the 77. The sound doesn't go with the car, if you know what I mean. It is actually loudest when I first start it up. WHAP!! Going down the road it is not that loud. I am considering adding mufflers on the rear, but I am going to drive it awhile. Exhaust is pretty much a personal preference thing, and you almost have to hear it in person to decide. Find someone with the chambered and listen to it. Maybe it will work for you. I am 52 years old, so maybe that is my issue. Cheers.

Neither. For performance replace the mufflers w/ something like Dynomax Super Turbos.
As mentioned, Allen's manufactures Corvette exhaust, so I prefer to buy direct from him because he is an expert and will often throw in extra parts. He has stock style systems as well as different chambered systems depending on sound level you want. You can also mix and match different parts. Below is a "Chambered II" 2 muffler per side aluminized system with 2 1/2" front pipes and 2 1/4" tail pipes. This system has 1500 sound deadening holes and the sound and db level is very close to factory side pipes, so this one isn't real loud. Some other 4 muffler systems from other mfrs. only have 650 holes and they are much louder and those people are generally unhappy with them. It's best to ask about the number of holes and to hear other cars in person before you buy.
