I completely tore down and rebuilt my TH350 transmission from my '79, but I'm not sure about one thing.
According to the book I used to help me put my transmission together, it says that you should be able to rotate the input shaft with your hand. I have no problem rotating it, however I'm unsure about the oil pump shaft. The book doesn't mention if the oil pump shaft should be able to rotate by hand like input shaft. In the case of my oil pump shaft, I can't get it to rotate at all with all of my strength - and I'm a pretty strong guy.
No, that shaft is called the stator shaft, being that it is stationary and locks to the splines in the convertor to rotate the stator .
It is fixed solid to the front pump housing.
You are ready to go as is.
You're also a step ahead of me. I rebuild my TH350C and I wasn't able to turn the input shaft by hand. I should have known something was wrong. Now it's installed and doesn't work properly.

Sorry to hear about your issue. I believe that if any of the friction/clutch plates aren't properly seated and lined up that this will happen (at least that is what my book says).
However, thanks for the help. I just wanted to make sure everything is is OK before I get my engine (hopefully) early next week.
As a novice who knew absolutely nothing about transmissions, this book is great. The author discusses the basic workings behind the transmission and has vey detailed instructions (with lots of black and white pictures) showing you exactly how to tear down your transmission, inspect the parts for wear, and then put the whole thing back together again. I highly recommend this book.
The instructions that came with my B&M shiftkit were half-assed at best, but I was able to get things together with the help of this book.
The input shaft should turn. If not your clearences are off. An H-Gauge would clearly tell you. Most likely one of the drums hasn't fallen all the way into position.
