Faultering on acceleration after starting

My problem is that my 1970, faulters and comes to a complete stop when i accelerate uphill immediately after i start it. Could this be due to fuel stavation. After a short while I can restart and it will go fine.

sounds like a fuel pump.. or a clogged filter.when it quits lookin the top of the carb and pump it you should see fuel squirting in, if not check the filter first then the pump
