Default Edelbrock valve cover problems

The other day I was adding oil to my 77 and when I looked into my breather grommet I noticed something I havent seen before. My rockers were showing instead of my baffle. The baffle plate had cracked in two (actually five) pieces. After removing my valve cover and the big and small pieces with a magnet I noticed the fake plastic allen bolt heads were missing from the cover. When I turned it over they dropped out of the cover. What CRAP! I did not expect this from Edelbrock. One could be in an oil passage right now. Has anyone had this happen? Can I get any more plasric bolt fakes from Edelbrock to GLUE back in place so my covers and air cleaner lid will continue to look good? Or should I mail them all back to Edelbrock with a nice note on behalf of everyone who has this same problem with these made in taiwan/ made in usa Edelbrock products??????

I feel your anger. I bought a set fo the elite covers and the fake bolt heads have slowly begun to disappear. I think I actually got a little bag of extras when I unpacked the covers. You got me thinking about what to do. I think I might try drilling and tapping the fake holes and plug them up with REAL bolts. Those covers have been a PITA to seal, and I may look for a better set in the future.

Look under my photos to the left <---- under my avatar to see mine. They were spendy but work well for me. They replaced my flimsy leaky factory valve covers.

Little better and nothing looks as good on these cars, or will be worth more in 10 years...

With double cork gaskets, they clear roller rockers as well.

Actually Summit Racing sells adapters made by TFS that allow you to attach these valve covers to any center bolt head.

Just over $100...
