80 AC Hose

Guys

I am going to have the AC Hose, dryer and orifice tube replaced in my 80. Does the hood need to be removed to replace the AC hose? Has anyone done this?

It's possible to do with the hood on the car. I think that removing the hood would minimize your chances of scratching the paint.

This picture was taken to show the location of the Low Pressure Fitting but look at the brass nut located just to the right of that. Remove the brass nut and that is where you will find the orifice valve.

Mike,

I am afraid the hood will be damaged or misaligned by removal. Are any special tools required to disconnect the AC hose when hood is still in place?

I have disconnected them using a set of "stubby" wrenches.

If you have a total of three people, removing and re-installing the hood is pretty easy. It's your call.
