1968 427 BB. I am having problems with starter turing over after engine gets hot. Turns over well when cold. after car heats up it barly cranks. Battery is good. had tested. I looked at starter to check out wiring. This is what I have. There are 2 wires coming from battery to the same terminal on the relay, then one wire out to starter large lug. At starter they have a metal jumper bar from that large lug to the lug next to it on the starter. Is this common?

Yes on early starters. I presume you are using a cast iron nose with three bolt holes on your starter as this is the correct one. Just make sure it`s a HD starter with the 5/8`s spacer between the switch and starter field. If it`s a quality starter then check the charging system as you may be running off just battery. The alt may not be charging.
I was at my wits end. I was weling to try anything .A freind said to try grounds, so I took every grong wire andtook off and cleaned up connectors and the area that they were grounded to then went to start, and everthing worked as before. So must have been a bad ground not sure witch one. Have you had my above problem beforewith the heat and the starter? This has been a issue since I bought the car last year. New baatery checks out , also new altinator that is charging 13 to 14 volts checks out
Make sure you have a HD starter--that post that you talked about going from solenoid to the starter-there should be a double copper terminal coming from starter- one on top of the other-also when you say relay you mean solenoid-correct-because you make it sound a little like you have a seperate relay or solenoid from the starter-like a F-F-F-Ford-boy that tasted bad

Yes I do mean solenoid, that shows you how upset I am about my situation--( BUT NEVER CALL ME A FORD BOY) All I have ever owned for the last 30 years has been G.M. Yes my startermust be a HDit has a double copper terminal
I have read where you had the battery checked and the charging system is over 13.4 volts so you have done your homework. Most Vettes are a bitch to replace batterys but I recommend to all my customers to put the largest cold cranking battery that they can get into the battery box and normally the BB hard cranking starts simply go away as long as the rest of the system is up to par. I also practice what I preach as I have several BB pieces and nearly all are high HP. Simply check in My Corvette Photos and you can see what I mean.

Yes as Ironcross says bring everything individually up to par and that hard start will go away.(Oh and I think you were kidding about calling you a F-boy--I meant "wow"(boy)that F word sure tastes bad)
