ID TAG ON DOOR FRAME

THE ID TAG ON THE DOOR FRAM OF MY 81 READS AS FOLLOWS:
B 078 1010256

181 39L 33U 39H E

WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN???????????????? :confused:

I can help a little, but take another look at the tag. I think some of your characters may be incorrect.

B07 indicates July (07), 1981 (B). You have a Bowling Green built Corvette.

I suspect the second 8 is actually a letter B for Bowling Green.

1010256 is your VIN; the 10,256th 1981 Corvette built at Bowling Green.

181 has stumped me. It should be your interior trim code, but no 181 is listed in The Corvette Black Book.

39L indicates charcoal color lower exterior paint.

33U indicates silver color upper exterior paint.

I have no idea what the 39H code means.

E, if I recall correctly, indicates "Friday" but this may not be correct.

I made a mistake, on the top line, the number is 101256. I put an extra o in there. what does it mean now.

that means the 1,256th of that year not the 10,256th.
