I wanted to do an old school car using a midyear. But we all know the prices. So I thought why not a C3. So I bought this riverside gold 69. It still has it's orig paint and looks very ratty. But I kinda like it like this. I built the motor. And did the rest of the drive train. Also rebuilt all the suspension. I don't post over here very much cause I have all C1 and C2's But man I love this 69. So should I leave it all old looking or paint the car. If I paint it. It will be the orig. color with a motion performance black stripe.

I think you have got what you wanted and it looks like a really fun ride! Perhaps you could do a quickie scuff-n-shoot with a thin layer of satin paint. Perhaps even add a (satin/flat) stripe package of your choice, such as a motion pro design, etc. That would freshin' it up a bit without ruining its current bad boy image.
Without a doubt, the car will eventually get a top notch paint job that will be maintained to perfection. That will be sweet but not necessarily as unique, practical, nor enjoyable as the "old school" theme that you have going.
Less than perfect paint allows you to stack tools along the fenders while doing engine work. People can lean/sit on it. You can park it anywhere without fear.
I recently painted my Vette after spending years with tired paint. I can already tell that it's not going to be as comfortable as it was before. However, my '80 model can't pull off the 'old school" theme nearly as well as the bumper cars.
Your '69 is already a cool ride. That won't change, no matter which way you decide to go with it.
Money is no problem cause I own my body shop. I do all my own work. I was thining of tring to reshoot the car and make it dull so to keep the old hot rod look. I'v never left a car looking ratty before. So It's hard to make up my mind. Thats why i'm asking on here, to see what most of you think. Keep in mind it's getting a stock big block hood with a hole in it For the tunnel ram. Keep telling me what you guys think. It will help me make up my mind. This is my first C3 and I must say I like the roof being off and theres much more room for your legs when driving. I like driving this more that my 66.Thanks. Brian G.
Man I have to tell you, the copper-ish color with the black motion stripe is definitaly what I've been thinking about for mine, and with those wheels and black side pipes you've got a winner in my eyes.
id paint it . im going the same way with my vette . i put the pipes on the other day i have the same wheels as you but i havent put them on yet. i also have the duel quads but i dont know if i want to go that far yet . i may just add a 5" cowl hood

I like your "old school" theme! Paint it and you will take its uniqueness away with the "one time only" patina. Paint it and you will blend in and compete with the all the other 69 beauty queens. I say you have a good look going on that car, leave it be.
If you mean to keep it old school...Flat back primer.....nice old school pinstripe (painted on, not the stick on stuff).....and hit the lips of the wheels with a grey scotch bright. American Graffitti 2006 :-)
