i have a 73 l48 auto with a qjet. when driving around the engine sometimes wants to stall or cut out, it seems like a fuel problem because if i catch it in time and pump the gas it will run. i don't have the car that long and i am trying to get any bugs out. any suggestions on what to try first?
thanks a lot
Check the bowl levels. I have a Holley which did the same. Combination of heat and not enough fuel caused starvation. Check the issue on a hill, if it wants to stall this could be the problem.
Sorry, you stated it was a Quadrajet in your first post
It certainly does sounds like a fuel problem.
If the ignition is in good order, timing is set correctly, I would start with replacing the fuel filter, if that doesnt clear things up I would think about a rebuild on the QJ
i don't have a lot of history on the car but the previous owner for the last two years said it sat thru the winter but that was about it.thanks for trying to help i will try a fuel filter.
