Just a little question about engine oil pressure with a stock oil pump
on a 350CI L82 1973 engine :
The stock manometer reads from 20-25 at idle to 35-40 at 2500 RPM+, but it doesn't go any higher even at high RPM.
I first checked the oil pressure with an external manometer and I'm now sure that the dash unit works correctly.
I remember there is a little spring built inside the oil pump, which limits the max oil pressure. Could this spring be a little weak ?
Shouldn't I get a little more, at least 50+ PSI ? ( I use 5W50 Mobil Oil )
Is there something that I can or must do to fix it ?
when you figure it out let me know. I am having the same issue but much lower pressure than you. If my oil pressure was reading as high as yours, I would be happy.

I believe the stock spring limits oil pressure to about 40 PSI. Your oil pressure seems fairly typical. If it were me, I let it alone.
