Smog Pump-Does it Click?
I just replaced mine with a re-built because it was clicking when cold. Now the re-built is clicking when cold after less than 100 miles. Is this normal? The click is not constant but intermittent. Could this be the diverter valve doing what it is supposed to do?

mine does not click. The valve is a relief valve that opens when you decellerate.

No click here either. Mine is th eoriginal but I took it apart to clean it and replaced the gaskets. It makes a sort of funny noise when just spinning it freely by hand, but you shouldn't hear a clicking noise.
I assume you checked the vacumm line hooked to it?

Yes, all hook-up hoses are fine. I cannot believe that I got two bad re-builds in two years! The clicking goes away if I remove the smog pump belt. I think I will just live with the annoyance. At $90.00 a pop these pumps are not cheap.
