Default what is the least restrictive muffler

What is singlehandedly the least restrictive highest flowing muffler for a 2.5" exhaust system?

I keep hearing good things about dynomax ultra flows

That would be a muffler left in the box....
Just kidding...Dynomax gives cfm ratings to their mufflers...think there is a simple formula to determine your required cfm related to horsepower...

2.2 cfm per HP might be ok...

Here is what I have. You can see right through 'em.

MagnaFlow Wide Open

Mellow at idle and cruise but obnoxious at full throttle.

im looking for something for a 69 350. any recomendations?

im loooking at the magnaflow 14226. 2.5 offset/center.

will these bolt right on, or will it take some moddifying?

also, maybe a dumb question, but how do these mount? my dad will only use mufflers that bolt up exactly like the stock ones do.

I went 11.74 @ 116.08MPH with a full 2.5" exhaust and Ultra-Flos, I like them and they sound good without being too loud.

Under car chambered exhaust. Most of the side exhaust sound, just only slightly muted.

Most of the vendors sell them, plus Allen's Stainless Exhaust.

I've got the Ultraflows on my 74 and they have just about the right mix for sound and performance. They are straight through mufflers but, when new, are surprisingly quiet especially at idle. Once they are broken in they have a nice tone with just a little resonance around the 1200 to 1500 rpm range but not intrusive. At WOT they rap like the old glasspacks. I'm very happy with mine. Here's a pic.

Do you have any source of more accurate testing?

Just because it's the only one, doesn't mean it's any good.

The test they showed with the mufflers and horsepower was done with a carbureted car and they didn't provide details as to whether or not they adjusted the jetting on it for each muffler.

OK, I was more interested in the flow comparisons.

I normally don't care about dyno comparisons, as they can wildly vary just like on my EFI trans am.

Well the flow comparisons on the mufflers is alright, but what I didn't like is they listed glasspacks but didn't give any details on the glasspacks. A glasspack is basically straight through with fiberglas around it. So I don't get how their glasspacks showed lower flowrates when they should flow better than most mufflers.

My borla's can't have too much back pressure. You can see daylight reflecting thru them even with the 90 deg inlet bend already welded on. They seam to be kind of like 4 stainless steel packed glass packs (the mufflers have two passages each). Ran a 12.8 at 108 mph with them and car chemistry inserts up near the headers to knock a resonance near cruising speeds .

I just recently installed a set of Borla SST Turbos (replaced FlowMasters that had rusted out after 3 years). I really like the sound and performance. Check out this link....
