Default Headers

Although I installed my supercomps 1 month ago I have not run the car yet as I don't have the rest of the exhaust on yet. There are two places where the headers are touching the frame and one tube is paper thin close to the steering box. How much clearance between the tubes and the frame do you need? Thanks.

Just installed a set of ceramic hookers - summit offers a complete setup....
But..... did not fully clear everything so I had to do some heating and bending.
The headers fit great!, look great too

I've got the same problem on the Hooker side headers. I'll be also watching for the answers you get.

Can a person just dimple them headers or is heat required? Mine are chrome.

hey guys,
If it is touching now, what will happen when the motor is torqued under a load ? Make sure you have enough room for that. I have had to dimple several pair to fit and clear things. I heat the area and use a rounded hammer handle to hit on to leave a smooth rounded dimple instead of a hammer mark. I also wrap my headers for the heat transfer, Supercomps are already coated so be careful not to chip the coating. As far as the chrome headers, I used a set on a Dakota RT, I thought I had them clean before starting the engine, wrong, it showed every spot I missed with a nice blemish( hot spot)... Clean them with alcohol wipe, let them dry and rewipe them again. They are going to tarnish, but this will help slow it down in the beginning. Hope that helps.
Later,
Joe

I've heard of people grinding down the steering hardware bolts, but denting headers would hurt my pride a bit. :smash: I would call the manufacture and consult with them. My Dynomax's fit perfect, but the ceramic coating is burning off slowly. Good thing there lifetime warrantied. Good luck

My understanding is that if you dimple ceramic's you void the warranty. That said, if they rub on something, I'm sure the warranty is void as well. :jester
