Dash duct work....
Looking back through some receipts, it appears the previous owner may have removed/replaced dash but not replaced the ducting when reassembling it all. I can hear what sounds like vacuum actuated vents etc working when I turn the heater control.
How easy is it to check and refit ducting if required? Do I need to pull the dash etc or can this be done bent double upside down, just like most other jobs on the Vette!!!
Some things to do;
Check/fix/install hot water cutoff valve in the heater hose coming from the intake manifold to the firewall, this will stop the hot water from entering the heater core.
Fix/reinstall the ducts, they may have been disconnected or removed.
There is a paper on corvettefaq.com on C3 cocpit heat, get that and study it.
Close up any air leaks from the firewall.
Wrap the exhaust / Install heat shields
Install heat/sound proofing under the carpet
Lots of heat sources and fix's
One question about the heater cut off valve though.
In previous old cars of mine, to stop hot water from entering the heater core ( usually because of a leak ) I installed a loop to basically just bypass the heater core and keep the coolant circulation correct.
Can I just install the cutoff in the pipe effectively stopping the flow without the need to install a complete loop?
