Side pipe header install questions?
Any warnings before I dig into this. Looks like a tight fit. I think the jackstands will also have to be raised way up to twist them in there.
Any clues to getting this done and keeping all 9 fingers??

With the Hooker headers and side pipes, I have two header pipes that are hitting. One on frame and one on steering box. Car is 2-3 feet off ground so headers in and out no problem. Also had to cut on part under door so side exhaust pipes did not rub. Still working on that. Other than that it all went in really good.

the right side slips right in on my small block. remove all the spark plugs, take out the motor mount bolt that holds it two the frame and raise the engine up with a bottle jack and 2x4'sor 4x4's. you might have to remove the starter on a BB, not sure.I did on my 66ss chevelle. repeat for the drivers side. Buy a good set of header gaskets.
Glad you finally got your vette. the guy is a jerk and 1 day what goes around comes around.
Good luck with your vette.

Does anybody know if the sidemount headers will fit on a car with A/C. It looks really tight but I am sure somebody knows.....
If not, I'll be selling some used hooker headers

Mine went in/on real easy. The only "problem" was that I had to remove the coolant temp sender out of the head to get the driver's side on. Other than that, real smooth.

Mike,
All these guys are talking small-block to you. With your BB, it is a different story. Yes, you should be able to get the headers in there. But you are probably going to need a special mount for your A/C compressor.
I think Zwede, Massvette and GDiana are running headers on their BB 'vettes. There are others out there that I can't remember right now. You might try reposting with Big Block or LS-5 in your title. Maybe one of the guys will see the post and answer your questions.

I am talking BB. Not sure on the a/c cuz I am changing from sb to BB. All my sb a/c brackets don't fit the bb so I am still working on that. Water temp guage, spark plugs out. Z bar for clutch out.
