I have a set of total seal conventional race rings and I need to know which one goes where. Machine told me when I picked them up and I've forgotten what goes where and the instructions are vague. I have 2 rings and a oil control ring. It's obvious where the oil control ring goes, but the other 2 have me scratching my head. One of these upper rings is solid black all the way around (moly, even on the ring face) and has a dot which I believe is supposed to go up if it is infact the top ring. The other ring is black everywhere except on the ring face, where it is silver/steel looking - this one does not have a dot. Both of these rings have beveals. The one with the dot is bevealed on the opposite side of the dot.
Which one goes where and which way does the beveals point?

Hi blc, the top rings normally have a "dot" that goes up AND a "bevel" on the same side as the "dot". The second ring normally has the same
"dot", but the "bevel", if it has one, will be on the opposite side. So the top ring goes "dot" and "bevel" up, the second ring goes "dot" up and
"bevel" down. This info applies to most "conventional" ring sets.
Sometimes you you have to look very close for the "dots", as they don't mark them to deeply anymore. Thanks, Gary in N.Y.
P.S. We don't use too many Total-Seal sets, but they're all fairly similar as far as markings.
Thanks Gary. The Total Seals came as part of my rotating assembly package. I had oringally thought they were the gapless and was worried because people reported problems with them, but now I have found they are not the gapless - just the conventional moly race set. Anyways thanks for the info. It has been a frustrating day installing spiro locks.
