On one of those Spike/Speed TV car shows today they had Vic Edelbrock himself on talking about "cheap knockoffs" of Edelbrock parts. He showed two manifolds that looked pretty much identical from the outside, then they flipped em over and showed how they fit with various gaskets. On the cheapie the gaskets overlapped into/over the ports, the Edelbrock gaskets matched up exactly to the ports and bolt holes.
Of course I don't believe everything I see on TV, one or both of those manifolds could have been ringers....
I think for our purposes I'd buy a USED brand name rather than a NEW knock-off (usually about the same price). eBay and various forums are full of aluminum intakes that people don't need anymore.
