Write down the numbers off yours when they pull it out and go back by to check as they are building it. Even let them see you snap a couple of pics and make sure you specify in writing that you want YOUR trans rebuilt and installed!!

Find a shop that works on older cars with some veteran mechanics,if the guy is good you'll know by how he talks and keeps his shop. If he tells you a lot of stories and work in a "pit" go someplace else.
Rebuilding a 350 or 400 tranny won't take an experienced guy more then a day or less.
