Advice on Changing Speedo Gears....
At 2500 rpm with a 3.08 rear and 26.6" tires (245 60R 15") meter is reading 53 mph should be about 64 mph according to all the online calculators
I have a 40 tooth gear now in a 40 -45 driven gear housing. My speedometer is reading slow. So I need to go to a 38 or 39 tooth gear to speed things up. So I guess I need a different housing that will acoomodate the 34 - 39 tooth gears. That's the aluminum piece the the driven gear runs in.
I Can't really see the drive gear in the tail of the tranny to count the gears, but it appears I have a 15 or 16 tooth gear. The 40 tooth driven would be correct if I had a 17 tooth drive.

Thanks Star 79. I had visited that side too. Lots of godd stuff. May end up calling him for a used housing. The gears and most speedo gear parts for a TH400 are the same for 700....
