Stroker,
The fix is usually a lot simpler than most realize. If the bearing has worn out prematurley its probably because it is spinning all the time, which it's not designed to do, and has thrown the grease out from too much heat.
This is usually cased from a missing spring between the upper Z-bar and the steering column flange. Remember the General never put one item in these cars that was unneccessary.
Its purpose is to keep the pedal weight off the throw out bearing. I've found this spring to be missing on more Vettes than you'd believe. Also the two springs on the lower adjustment rod from the Z-bar to the clutch fork.
I have the upper spring but not the lower. Do you have any pics of the lower.
Thanks I checked it out. I decided to go with a full hydraulic bering set up from mcloed. The kit comes with a master cylinder with resivoir, hydraulic throw out bering, input shaft retainer and all the lines and hardware I need. I just need to figure out how I am going to hook up the master cylinder to the clutch pedal.
Looks like you're going for a redesign. Incorrect installation is what I cite as the cause of wear on a throw-out bearing. The retainer clip seems to be the culprit. Hydraulic would be a good upgrade.
Are you going to toast your transmission a fourth time anyway due to the amount of power & traction you have?
I'd think that as long as I were into reengineering the clutch actuation system, I'd explore the option of replacing the transmission with something more stout as well.
And ask around a bit, as I'm no expert, but I've been told by a few folks that it's safe to run 2-stroke oil in the clutch hydraulic system when you run the hydraulic TO bearing. That way if you do ever have a leak which wets down the clutch you can just clean it off with dish detergent and not ruin your clutch disc.

I need to sell my tranny first. I have thought about the TKO 600 but just can't come to any decisions.
