wiper dash switch

I am trouble shooting the wiper switch mounted in the dash of my '72 vette. When I put a meter on the switch, there is continuity between the center spade of the electrical connector and the left spade, giving me low speed wipers. When I shift the leaver to "high", there is still no continuity between the center spade and the right spade. The wiper still runs on low speed. Also, it appears that the "push to wash" button does not activate the pump either. It is likely that the pump is thrashed, so I don't really care about that, but would like the "high" speed wiper to work....Where am I messing up here?

The wiper switch must be grounded to work properly. Took me awhile to figure it out.
