Re: L82 Differences from L48 Appearances (JRChurch)
The only exterior difference that I can see on my 80 is the L-82 above the side fender vent on either side. Some earlier L-82's have their markings on the hood. Engine wise is the higher compression ratio, bigger valves, ports, 4-bolt main, finned valve covers, more agressive cam. I believe the starter is a higher output also. L8TER, Paul.
Re: L82 Differences from L48 Appearances (JRChurch)
Here is a 73 L82:
Only real difference is the valve covers. Also the L82 has a larger balancer (8" vs 6.75"). Otherwise the emissions equipment will vary year by year. But all L82s used the A.I.R. pumps.
Tom, Nice picture. I probably should have told you when I sent you that picture that it is actually a L-48 with L-82 valve covers. One of the previous owners (Bubba's) was kind enough to upgrade those for me.
Re: L82 Differences from L48 Appearances (Corellian Corvette)
I have the same Edelbrok carb on my 73, but I haven't been able to find a idle stop solenoid to fit. Can you tell me where you found yours and what the part number is??
