Default Adjusting solid lifters Q?...

A fellow corvette guy at the Ears & Gears show uses this technique...

He purchased a set of old valve covers and cuts the top out...he then adjusts while running...no oil splatter and no clicking the engine over...what do you think? Thanks Muddy

I would just bring the engine up to operating temp. and adjust the
valves to the hot setting with the engine shut off, your engine
with cast iron heads will not lose heat very fast. How do you like
your Isky cam ??

That is fine for a hyd. cam but not for a solid cam. If you adjust them running you will kill your feeler gauges. You cannot do a solid by sound. You must use feeler gauges.

I'd probably say that the guy might not know how to read or comprehend instructions

His method is more for H-flat cam. Not solid as you posted. There is no way that your going to set the lash = on a solid cam while it is running.

Littlemouse, Gordon,Ltler...yea, he was speaking of solids and using a feeler gauge, not by sound...He was talking about slipping the feeler gauge through while running...ummmmmm

Really, slipping a feeler gauge into moving parts Unless his springs are really weak. That would just pound the feeler gauge between the valve stem tip and rocker.

it's really not that big of a job if you buy reusable rubber coated steel incert valve cover gaskets and just bump the motor over with the starter.

Little mouse... vacume is 9-10" @ 850RPM...headlights pop up like "Pronto" as a matter of fact, after engine is off... I get one up and down on the headlight doors, needless to say, still looking why I dont get the three...brakes work excellent aswell. My only slight problem is... I get a slight hesitation on throttle when lugging to WOT...Other than that, engine is operating perfectly The reason I' asking about the lifter adjustment is... I'm now coming up on 3000 miles and would like to re-adjust... Im at the moment looking (search) on the proper sequence. Today, I'll go and purchase a switch so as to hook up to the starter so I can turn over the engine from the outside...
