Becuase of the way the power steering came apart I'm convinced it's related to the mounts. Still tommorow I'll check all the half shafts and drive shaft for looseness.

I'm really perplexed by this as well as I should mention the fan appears to be to the right and down within the fan shroud, the belt/ hose protector which is bolted to the altenator arm was ripped off the altenator bracket and is no where to be found.

WTFO??!!

Are you missing any wrenches? Perhaps a socket? I can't think of anything that would do that much damage. You do have a mystery there. Keep us posted.

Went thru every nut and bolt on the driveline and found nothing except for the driver's side rear strut rod did not have cup washers on it and the rubber grommet had started to come out. That's not the culprit of the vibration but I pulled the strut rods off and I'm going to pick up new grommets and press them into the strut rods tommorow anyway. Then I'll get back to pulling the power steering out and removing that damn broken stud. Hopefully the vibration goes away with the strut rods.

seems to me that it has to be an issue with the pulley set up putting undue stress on the PS pump....perhaps it is wobbling when it is spinning and this is creating a cycle of pulling and then letting go over and over and so finally it breaks....i can't see how the motor mount could effect it.....seems like all the tension comes from the belt system

Bob at this point the thread has shifted from the power steering to a vibration issue. I think the vibration is the culprit, maybe not. I'm stumped.

my vibration issue turned out to be a bad fan clutch...look closely at the seal around the shaft and see if there is any evidence of elongation and then grab it and try and move it....I don't see how that could break a bracket though

Well tommorow I'll put the rear strut rods in but niow I'm thinking it may be the T/A bushings.
