ok first of all this aint the vette, its a 91 pontiac transport van. im asking here because yall are some of most knowledgable people i know of, so here goes. my girlfriend was at a stop light and it stalled, started up and stalled again. turn the key and you get one click and thats it. starter doesnt spin over or nothing. gauge act fine and i tried to jump it with my truck but no luck. all the battery cables look to be connected good and not corroded. ill pull the starter tomorrow and have it tested but didnt know if anyone else might have some insight.

I had a Pontiac Transport van that did something like that it ended up the positive terminal lug came out of the battery. Everything looked fine but you could not jump it off or anything. Put a new battery on no more problems.

Almost certainly electrical (which is why I like old cars ) making it a guessing game to diagnose over the internet. You can try the old fashioned things first, ( battery, alternator, loose connections, grounds, coil, etc.) but getting the trouble code is the easiest answer.

if it is an AC Delco battery. There are notorious for the terminals failing. I've seen this happen on several of them.
well its not the battery i checked the terminals and the cables, cleaned off a little corrosion and still nothing. got to hot outside so im taking a break for a while. im going to turn the crank and make sure it turns and then pull the starter and have it tested. god i hope its the starter.
Put a voltmeter across the battery terminals. If you've got less than 12 volts, there's your problem.....sounds to me like it ran until the terminal let go.

Notice that you're in Tx, the southern nation...bet it was hot as swell down there. Was 96+ up here in NW Ohio today. Anyways, will the engine crank with jumpers attached?
just for grins before i pull anything off of the engine, i decided to put a socket and a breaker bar on the crank and give it a turn. guess what? nothing. i put everything i had in it and cant get the crank to turn any. im starting to have a bad feeling about the motor in that thing.

it wont do anything but make one loud click (sounds like the starter is engaging) and thats it. doesnt matter with jumpers or not. think the engine has locked up. bad thing is that my girlfriend said when is stalled on here she didnt realize that it happened. wonder what would make it lock up like that? if its locked up.
Sounds like it may very well be locked up (maybe lost the oil pump) ask her if the light came on before it stalled? Just for kicks, pull the spark plugs and then try to rotate the crank, good luck
