HELP . . . ignition switch
HELP . . . my ignition switch is stuck in the on position. it won't turn back to shut car off. key comes out of ignition switch while its stuck in on position.
hows the best/easest way to fix? had to pull coil wire to shut down.

If the '79 is like the '74 ignition, then it sounds like the connecting rod from your key switch to the actual ignition switch (located on top of the steering column down by the vent panel) came out of the little slot it's supposed to go into. Or it's stuck on something. Unfortunately you have to drop the column to replace the actual ignition switch....

Getting access to that rod is a pain in the gazoo...you can lower your column a bit and get it done,but take your seat out..it will be easier..I was getting my skull tangled up in brake/clutch pedals working upside down with one hand.....
