I have swapped exhaust systems from car to car more then a few times...and to be honest its pretty confusing
because the cars all sound very different..take the Monza off the 76 and put them on the 79 you would think the 79 would sound pretty much like the 76....NOT.
Hows that for an answer.. ! not much help at all I know but on my 3 individual C3's thats the only answer I can give..

Whatever brand of 4 muffler chambered exhaust Wilcox sold about 4 years ago. Even at idle, slightly quieter than open exhaust. My wife could hear me shifting normally through the gears from the traffic light .7 of a mile from our house.
Much louder than the system I got afterwards from Allen's.
