I replaced my cam(Crane H-272-2 Powermax in 350) and broke it in for 20min with Crane super lube. I drained the oil and filter after breakin. Put in Castrol GTX 10w/40 with new filter. What is a good additive to put in oil so I don't have a cam failure again??
Thanks

why use an additive go for the good stuff to begin with .....valvoline racing oil......however i did see a valvoline supplement for ATVs....i bet thats filled with lots of zinc and other good stuff
I used EOS during break in but not after I drained it. I was told it is a break in additive only due to high moly content and wouldn't want to use it on a regular basis. I filled it up wit 15w-40 Shell Rotella oil instead.

I'm not at home to read the bottle, but I believe it says it can be used after the initial break in. At $5-$8 (depending how much your local dealership want to charge) a pint, it's somewhat expensive. It seems the oils of today are geared more towards newer cars. I think an owner of an older car has to be more careful today when buying oil; either choose certain oils or use an additive.
