Little Mouse Why would anyone want vacuum advance just something else to
go bad.

I currently run a Mallory Unilite w/o vacuum, mech only, and will probably not have vacuum on the new motor either. I just have not looked into new distributors yet.

MotorHead Go with 11:1 CR and single plane Vic Jr. you will be happy. I run 91 octane in mine, the trick IMHO is to get rid of the vaccum advance. That is why motors ping, the vacuum advance can put you over 50 deg advance

I'm starting to lean toward 11:1, and the Vic Jr after all hearing from members here on the forum. I have several other threads open at this time.

The Money Pit

I do not buy into "wives tales". My current 355ci is ~10.8:1 and with the Comp 280 Magnum (no wiped lobes) @ 230* Duration my car runs great. I'm hoping to be in the same HP range as you have now.
