Thanks very much guys. Sounds like I just need to test that port on the carb and make sure it is a small vacuum line then connect it to the evap canister. So on my model there is no venting from the carb to the evap canister, just venting from the fuel tank to the canister? If there is no gas running through the vacuum port on the front of the carb and it is pulling fumes from the tank to the evap canister, would it not be ok to just use the rubber hose that is already there from the carb to the evap canister?

The hose may be a fuel rated hose as it looks the same as the rubber fuel lines that come from my fuel pump to the carb.

On my '73 the cannister hose tees into the hose from the PCV valve on the valve cover (and from there to the carb thru the 3/8" PCV hose)

Yeah...some of the earlier evaporation routing included the PVC valve...that is OK since that hose will be carrying fuel vapor as well. I see a diagram for the 72 routing and the canister hose is connected with the distributor line and TCS solenoid. But they stopped doing that...one reason could be that some of the fuel fumes were seeping into the vacuum advance unit and destroying the rubber diaphram, so later models had the canister line directly connected to the carb with no other line connected to it except the PCV.

So on my 76 I should just run the line directly from the port on the carb to the evap canister. I just need to check to make sure that it is vacuum port that I posted a pic of above and that it does not have too much vacuum.

Yup, that is exactly correct. Your setup is just like my 74's, one line to the tank and one to the carb. I'm running a q-jet so I'm not sure which port is right for your setup.

I HOPE it is the one pictured in my post above as that is the only port on the carb that is not in use. I hope someone here on the Forum with an Edelbrock Performer carb would chime in

Yeah...I'm surprised nobody has yet cause I'm sure I've seen a lot of members indicating that the performer was what they were running. But, then again...many of those same people switched to a Q-Jet when Lars started rebuilding them for everyone.
