Ok well as some of you know I've been asking lots of question lately about my corvette. Well, I have ordered all my interior, floor pans and welder, so it now brings me to my engine. I need a new one (then paint, but thats in Oct) My vette will never be on the drag strip but I sure do what it to get up and go. I have a 1979 L-48 with a 350 auto trans. What do you all think about the power? I've been looking for something around 300 to 350 hp. I've been down here in Bonaire (by Venezula) for about three months now and I'll be home in about 9 days. Hopefully I can everything ready to go once I get home. Well, thats the plan anyway...........So thatnk you very much for all your thoughts and answers. I hope I'll see some of you Florida guys out at the 441 @ 595 in a few weeks.... Take care.

Try a 383 stroker like mine. I got 386 hsp at rear wheel & she flies. Original 350 L82 came with 186 at rear wheel. It's pricey but worth it.
I don't have my '79 running yet, but I went with a 465 HP 450 TQ 383. I have a TH350 that I rebuilt and installed a shift-kit and a 2000 RPM stall torque converter and street tires. I'm not sure how long my TH350 will (or should be able to) last with this sort of power... I spent about $6,000 or so getting my 383 built.
I have a 79 and have done alot of research, call T & L engines (704)888-8111 or www.tandlengines.com
They seem to have there chit together and are located in the middle of nascar country

I put a chevy crate ZZ4 in my 78 and I am happy with it. That was 6 years ago. However, I did not do my research enough. If I had to do it over, I would go with a 383, or at least the fast burn ZZ4. Breast of luck to you.
Installed a 383 stroker GM Performance from Sallee Chevrolet with 450 HP and 483 TQ. Followed with a stage 700r4 from Bowtie overdrives and Dewitt aluminum radiator. Just installed a few days ago and it is great. I am going to changes gears after it gets back from the paint shop.

Great guys to deal with. When they have it built drive up to watch the dyno run. Its well worth the trip. Kinda like watching your baby being born.
