Just about everybody knows about the trouble I had getting my car through Ebay at the safe harbor web site. I did fill out all of the ebay fraud reports on the guy and nothing was done. Now the shoe is on the other foot. He has reported me to the ebay police for messing with his potential buyers. He reported that I was emailing bidders and telling them not to bid. Not that I think anything is wrong with warning people, but I didn't do that. I did respond to about a hundred emails from potential buyers who were questioning my feedback. I did tell them what I thought and told them how to protect themselves if they did choose to continue on with buying from that guy.
Like I said before, ebay is there to support the sellers, not to protect the buyers. Even after I said all that, I am about to bid on some headers because I can't get the sidepipe headers in!!! Light up the crack pipe, I must be on something....
I been going throught the same ordeal in a smaller scale with a NOS kit I bought on E-Bay. After two weeks I finally got an email confirming the shippment. The test is the same as your, will I get what I paid for?
I had absolutely no problems with the beanie baby I bought on ebay! It came promptly and was "as-described' mint condition! I tell you this not just for yucks, but that is about the $ limit of what I would buy on ebay (it was a $25 beanie baby, not the $2000 !!!). I also bought a model kit for $8.50 and some corvette literature for about 10 bucks.
Who pays ebay? the seller pays right? so I guess they favor the sellers! MJ
I have looked into offering my products on Ebay, but in my industry(cellular accessories) there is just too much cheap stuff out there and thats pretty much all they sell on ebay...I love those ads about how great the product they sell is (they sell the cheapest stuff in the industry)  I see alot of negative feedback and I just don't think I could fit into it...ohh well to each his/her own I did buy some cool lambchop stuff years ago when ebay first came out(for my girlfriend at the time, now shes my wife)...a 1 out of 5 experience one item totally NOT as described others were fine..thats all it took to convince me that ebad is a no no...
I wish they could do something about sniping. I put in a high price for an item, (more than I have seen anyone previously willing to pay), and it still gets sniped for $5.00 more just two minutes before the close of the auction. Fine, I don't get the part but I do get some satisfaction knowing I still have my money while the sniper is going to pay a lot.
I'm sorry, but I don't get it...
To me there are three very dangerous things going on with Ebay...
* It's an auction, an auction is a place where you pay too much for something you don't really want.
* It's an internet purchase, need I say more?
* It's a long distance purchase, you often never get to meet the crook selling the item. It's hard enough trying to figure out if someone is a crook when meeting them face to face.
* Ebay is only there to help the seller. the buyer apears to have zero protection
Now don't get me wrong. I am not dis-ing two rottiedogs for buying anything on Ebay, I just think it's a rip off waiting to happen ( I'd rather get ripped off face to face thankyouverymuch )
virtue4u--I have ran into the same problem trying to do honest bidding. It was almost like the other buyer knew exactly what my max bid was @ 3 seconds before close. It also sounds like some people are having trouble receiving what they paid for--not good.
I just recieved a pretty good email from another ebay victim:
Here it is......
I'm truly sorry this mutt defrauded you as well. I assumed when EBAY banned him
it was permanent. As I looked him up Monday on EBAY, (9 months later) I was
absolutely disgusted to see that he was still "doing business". I knew
immediately there were more trusting EBAY members that had been victimized.
EBAY knew full well this guy was conning people on a regular basis. As far as I
am concerned, EBAY is responsible for creating an environment in which
consumers are purposely, and continually defrauded. At the very least, EBAY is
guilty of Criminal Facilitation to Grand Larceny, and possibly even Enterprise
Corruption. I know all their legal bases are covered, but they're fair game in
the court of public opinion. I have contacted two members of the local media
here in Tampa, and while they both were very interested, they indicated that
before investigating further, the full magnitude of the matter must be
determined. I am contacting potential victims as fast as possible, but It's
hard to find time being a full time student and member of the workforce.
I would greatly appreciate it if you would encourage the other members that you
have been in contact with to email me with the details concerning their
transactions with Mr. Boterashvili.
I left his name out but he purchased a car from the same guy a while back and had similiar problems. The car was a 68 camaro. I just thought I would keep everyone informed on what is going on.
