Default Hawk HP+ PAD QUESTION

Hello,

I just purchased a set of slotted and drilled rotors off ebay for my 82 vette. Also got a set of stainless steel brake lines, and new stock calipers from advance auto. I really would like to upgrade the braking power of this car. A few of the guys on this site actually recommended the Hawk HP+ brake pads a while back. I called up the company to place an order and the guy kept telling me not to go with the pads. He told me they were for serious "hardcore" racers only. I don't consider myself a "serious hardcore racer," but I do want my car to stop fast at 110 MPH before the sand box. Rotor wear is not an issue... although I don't want a pulsation after a week of normal driving. I only intend on getting one cut out of the rotors before i junk them. I also don't mind a "little" increased braking noise as long as my Corvette does not sound like a BUS stopping in MIDTOWN Manhattan.

Those are my only concerns...

P.S. I will also be purchasing a set of pads for my 95 Monte Daily driver at the same time. (Slotted Rotors) HPS on that or HP+?

They are fairly noisey, and dust quite a bit. I don't think they're too hard on rotors, I'd say you'll be replacing the pads before the rotors.

That said, be prepared to pull them occasionally and sand them flat...leading/trailing edge pad taper is an issue with C3's, and the quicker your pads wear the quicker you'll see the taper. Sanding them flat occasionally helps restore pedal height.

I am running Hawk on my 73. Picked them because they do so well at the track and I have manual brakes. Think they are the Hawk Blue street pads if I remember correctly. Drove the car for months with them; smooth stopping, quiet with no squeal at all, no problems.

DUST

Can't hear the noice over the Flowmasters.

I run about 10 AutoXs and an HPDE this year and they are keeping me in the game until my skills improve.
