alternator?

What would cause my lights to go bright then dim. I just noticed the inside light is much brighter at idle than at higher rpm. And they pulsate some.

Sounds like a voltage regulator problem to me.....

Its not a new problem. there were always bigger problems. now I`m getting down to details.

like KB2 says probably regulator-take alt off and have checked for free at autozone to rule that out

If you have access to a voltmeter with the needle instead of digital, connect it to the backof the alternator and you may be able o see the variations in the voltage. I agree with the other guys, regulator probly partially dead. There is a six pack of diodes in there and one or 2 pairs might have opened up. It will still work (sortof) but that pulsing at idle is what you would see.
